As a result of efforts by the Traffic Action Group we now have Traffic Calming along the High Street. Although not exactly what the Traffic Action Group had envisaged it adheres to the WSCC Highways Regulations and a copy of the Safety Audit for the Scheme is available from West Sussex Highways. stephen.douglas@westsussex.gov.uk
West Grinstead Traffic Action Group (WGTAG) was formed by a group of local volunteers in November 2017, following concerns about traffic at a Public Meeting held earlier in the year.
WGTAG’s objectives are to raise awareness of the growing traffic problem in the parish and to campaign for improvements in safety accordingly .
We have successfully lodged a Community Traffic Calming Scheme with Sussex Highways for consideration in the next round of committee meetings being held in the Autumn of 2018. This includes, Pinch Points in several locations, a reduction in the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph , and some permanent speed activated cameras to deter drivers from speeding through the parish. We currently await the results of Sussex Highways meetings to see if we are to be allocated the funding and the approval of the scheme.
WGTAG holds regular monthly meetings, usually at the PG Village Hall and the minutes of these meetings are circulated on our TAG Facebook page and are available here for public viewing.
WGTAG holds regular fund raising events to contribute towards intermediate measures, such as purchasing temporary traffic speed indicators , which we hope to be installing early 2019.
